Many companies are going GREEN for customers concerned about environmental responsibility. The publishing industry leads the effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Using recycled papers helps reduce landfills, saves trees and protects our watersheds.
Although we would like to say that every book and card from sj publishing is completely produced from recycled paper, this is not so. We dosupport printers and other vendors who respect Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). We know that FSC-certified papers promote well-managed forests where people, wildlife and the environment benefit from the forestry practices.
A reminder to us at all times to respect trees and forests while simultaneously producing items that require paper.
We print books locally in California rather than overseas to reduce the amount of transportation fuel consumed in shipment.
Every attempt is made to use environmentally-sound packing material to ship books and cards to individual customers and wholesale buyers.
Instead of printing a large volume of books that may go to waste, we print small runs as needed. Although this results in a higher production cost, we feel the efforts to reduce waste outweigh this extra cost.
Our postcards are also printed in the US, with similar sustainable methods in mind. Postcards also eliminate the need for further paper in the form of envelopes.
Our Crazy Cat People Notecardsand envelopes are printed locally in San Francisco on RECYCLED paper. We pick up the cards ourselves to REDUCE shipping and inflict no harm on the environment from the consumption of unnecessary fuel in delivery.
As we grow, further refinements to our production methods identify vendors whose practices of recycling, reusing, and reducing are in alignment with our own.
